Greetings from C-CIARN Agriculture CLIMATE CHANGE: WE ARE AT RISK is the title of the interim report (June 2003) from the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry. The final report is expected in October 2003. The interim document contains points from many C-CIARN Agriculture members who spoke at the hearings. C-CIARN Agriculture will respond to this report, supporting the Senate Committee’s emphasis on the importance of adaptation and making other points. We would appreciate copies of any responses you submit to the committee. Details in the Senate report might be useful for those writing letters of interest for the recently announced CCAF (Climate Change Action Fund) research funding opportunity. (Letters of interest are due August 1/03) They identify 3 topics of special concern: · Droughts · Operations and Management · Land Suitability Full details are available here Check out our additional funding opportunities and lists of agricultural organizations who could be approached for partnering and/or letters of support.
